		<description><![CDATA[SAP 2009 methodology Draft Consultation papers were issued last week -<BR>The changes will mostly affect designers and developers.<BR>There are a number of changes- the most significant changes affect work on site <BR>Insulation to seal party walls and attention to non-repeating thermal bridges.<BR>The extent of the changes will not be known until Part L 2010 is issued.<BR>but the changes in SAP 2009 will in themselves have a considerable impact.<BR><BR>The document holds two main areas of change within SAP 2009. <BR>1.The improvement of the accuracy within SAP methodology. <BR>2.Amendments to make SAP more flexible, taking in a variety of new and existing technologies for combined use within a dwelling.<BR>The outcome will be an increase in the predicted energy consumption of dwellings for heating. <BR>Cooling load will now be considered giving an increase in energy use in dwellings using air-conditioning.<BR>CO2 emissions from electricity will increase by 40% between sap 2005 and 2009<BR><BR>Building Regulations compliance reads :- dwelling emission rate (DER) for the proposed dwelling <BR>must be less or equal to the target emission rate (TER). <BR>The DER and TER are based on carbon emissions per square metre of floor area for heating, hot water and lighting.<BR>Several changes in SAP 2009 affect both the DER and TER. <BR>It will make it harder to achieve a zero-carbon home.<BR>]]></description>
